The 442nd Regimental Combat Team (RCT) was composed mainly of Japanese Americans, which were called Nisei (American born sons of Japanese immigrants/second generation Japanese-Americans). The 442nd RCT’s motto was “Go For Broke!” which is a gambling term meaning to risk everything on one great effort to win big. The average height of a 442nd RCT volunteer was 5’4” and the average weight was about 125 pounds.
