NOLDOZ MEDIEVAL SWORDS AND ARMOR

            The Arming Sword: This sword was common in the high middle ages from About 1000 C.E to about 1350 C.E. The Arming Sword was the standard military weapon and was used with a shield. This sword led the way to the longsword.

            The Broad Sword: was long, heavy and double edged. The Broad Sword was used for both cutting and stabbing. This Sword was the preferred sword in England for 4 centuries.

            The Claymore: The Claymore was a long, two handed blade used in clan warfare in Scotland. This sword also participated in border fights with the English from about 1500 C.E to about 1700 C.E.

            The Falchion: The Falchion was a one handed blade. It was also a single edged blade and originated in Europe. This sword shares a similar design to the Chinese Dao and the Persian Scimitar.

            The Flambarb: The Flambarb is a wave edged sword used for cutting. This weapon was commonly used Pike Squares. This sword might have been used for cutting off pikes so the pike would be almost harmless.

            The Katana: The Katana’s origin was Japan. Kantana means backsword. The Kantanas blade is about 23.6 inches long. This sword was most historically associated with the Samurai of Feudal Japan. The Kantana was renowned for its cutting ability.

            The longsword: The longsword was a European sword used in the late Middle Ages from about 1350 to 1550.The Grip of the longsword is about 10 to 15 cm in length.
The longsword is commonly held with two hands. The blade length is about 90-92 cm.

            The Ailette: The Ailette was a piece of 13 century armor used by the French. This piece of armor was made of cuir bouilli. Ailettes were quadrangular pieces of wood or leather that were attached to the shoulders by using silk or leather cord.

            Banded Mail: Banded Mail is a type of armor created by combinding the concept of Roman lorica segmentata with splint mail. Banded Mails appearance can be described as mail reinforced with bands of leather.

            Besagews: Besagews are a piece of armor designed to protect your armpits. They look like a circular shield in front of your armpits.

            Bevor: A bevor is a specific piece of armor made to protect the neck. The bevor was worn as a conjunction to the salle6t and later the burgonet.

            Greaves: Greaves are leg components to medieval armor. They are referred to as “Stockings” by the original word in French.

            Chausses: Chausses are one of the most common leg armor components in medieval Europe. Chausses could cover your entire leg. They also offered flexible protection against slashing weapons.

            Brigandine: The Brigandine was a cloth garment worn in battle. The garment was made out of leather and canvas. The Brigandine was lined with steel plates woven into the fabric.

            The Rerebrace: The Rerebrace was a piece of armor designed to protect the upper part of the arms. Splint Rerebraces were components of the Byzntine Empires regular armor choice.
