Porcelain is made by mixing clay, rock quartz and feldspar. this was baked in kiln a type of oven, At very high temperatures. the pottery is white, hard ad waterproof. Light can pass through it making it more beautiful.
In the 10th century chinese were making beautiful porcelain. Craftsmen and artists learned how to paint pictures on these works of art also making colored glazed porcelain. Porcelain became a huge industry for china. Many thousands of people worked to produce large quantities of dishes, bowls, and vases. everyone had a different job. Some washed the clay, others applied glaze and more still operated the kiln. Because of this mass production of porcelain it became one of the main items in the trading buisness. Europeans didn't learn how to make porcelain until the 18th century. Many bought Chinese porcelain beacause they thought it the finest in the world. people today still reffer to fine dinnerware as "China". The increased Trade and Commerce lead to chinese urbanization.
