Excel provides dozens of formula for you to apply to your spreadsheet. We will cover the two basic formulas here.
We will use the sum formula to calculate the total homerun number of Aaron throughout his play.
- Select cell D26, enter the equal sign "=", and click on the formula drop down list browse for "sum".

- Select sum and a dialog box will appear, for you to input the range. Input D3:D25 to indicate cell D3 to D25.Hit enter to calculate the total number of homeruns.

Now let's calculate the average number of homeruns Aaron hit in each year.
- Select cell D27, enter the equal sign, and search for "Average" in the formula drop down list. Select average and input D3:D25 in the formula range dialog.

- Hit enter to calculate the average number of homeruns each year.
- Calculate the total and average of the hits, doubles and at bats to complete the spreadsheet.
